Queer*East Termine und Tickets

What does leading a queer life mean in Poland, Bosnia or Russia today? Where and how, between the internet and government censorship, does this life take place? How has art that addresses gay issues evolved in Central and Eastern European countries in the recent past? Is there such a thing as “queer literature“ in the first place – and what might it look like? And do art and literature have a special responsibility when authoritarian power seeks to marginalize “other” identities? Queer Writing from Central and Eastern Europe shall be the main focus of our festival, Queer*East. The LCB has invited writers and artists from 15 countries to Berlin, to discuss literature in its societal context and significance. Brief statements have been collected in a booklet – and we are all invited to share experiences, hopes and strategies: three summer days with discussions, readings, music, and performances at the Wannsee.

 Was bedeutet es heute, in Polen, Bosnien oder Russland ein queeres Leben zu führen? Wo und wie gestaltet sich dieses Leben im Spannungsfeld von Internet und Zensur? Wie hat sich Kunst, die sich mit Homo-Themen beschäftigt, in den Ländern Mittel- und Osteuropas in den letzten Jahren entwickelt? Gibt es überhaupt so etwas wie queere Literatur – und wie sähe die aus? Und wenn autoritäre Macht „andere“ Lebensformen an den Rand der Gesellschaft drängen will: Haben Kunst und Literatur dann eine besondere Verantwortung und Aufgabe? Queeres Schreiben in Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropa steht im Zentrum unseres Queer*East-Festivals. Das LCB hat Schriftsteller*innen und andere Künstler*innen aus 15 Ländern nach Berlin eingeladen, um über Literatur, ihre gesellschaftliche Bedingtheit und Bedeutung zu diskutieren. Kurze Statements unserer Gäste sind in einem Festival-Reader versammelt -- wir alle sind eingeladen, Erfahrungen, Hoffnungen und Strategien auszutauschen. Drei Sommertage mit Diskussionen, Lesungen, Musik und Performances am Wannsee.
